2020 was a unique year. Shut-down of the economy, pandemic, protests, and civil unrest. You might have also noticed a name being floated around. That name was Karen.

Origins of the 'Karen'
According to popular culture, a 'Karen' is defined as a middle-class, middle-aged white woman that displays types of behavior derived from privilege.
On social media, a Karen is commonly characterized as a woman who demands to speak with a manager to disparage a service worker in an entitled manner.
The joke of the meme first appeared on Reddit in 2014 but began to spread with images between 2016-2017. Most famously, the meme exploded around a Kate Gosselin haircut from the popular reality television show, Kate Plus 8. The Karen meme garnered worldwide attention after a Domino's Pizza in New Zealand launched a campaign offering a free pizza to anyone named Karen who could, in 250 words or less, explain why they were one of the "good ones." Domino's was trying to bring people together to elevate much of the negativity but was met with backlash. People argued that they wanted to “reward more privilege to the most privileged in our society."
Cancel Culture: Enough is Enough!
It seems everyone these days is trying to keep the Karens down. What has Karen ever done to anyone? Karens come in all shapes and sizes and from many walks of life. We should extend a hand to the Karen and be more considerate of their needs.

Karen Kardashian is just like us. She needs to feel wanted and supported. We must offer our services to her whenever she demands it.
3 - TripAdvisor Karen
Remember the golden rule THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. It was much simpler times then.

Sometimes a Karen is having a hard day. It’s important to let them vent. We have all been there.

Not all Karens are monsters and should be treated with dignity and respect.

When a Corona Karen asks you to put on a mask, just realize she is looking out for the well-being of all of us.
It's Time To Stand With Karen
We must learn to co-exist with the Karens. If you prick them, do they not bleed?
That’s why I ask you to please consider their needs above yours. They have a tough hill to climb this year and we must all be more sympathetic to their struggles.
Let this be the year that Karen will reign supreme in the most popular baby names.
