Although Lady Gaga disclosed the outfit she wore to the inauguration had nothing to do with the Hunger Games, I'm not the only one who just can't get over the big gold bird on her chest and what that symbolizes as we move into a new presidential administration.
On January 20, 2021, Joe Biden was inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States of America. The above picture shows Lady Gaga, a world-famous musician and outspoken Biden supporter, strutting into the affair with a Hunger Games-esque style, sporting none other than a bright golden bird across her chest.
The Political Symbol of the Mockingjay
Hunger Games was a movie series all about a dystopian society where poor people were made to do bloody battle to the death for the entertainment and amusement of the powerful and rich, who lived at the Capitol. For those of you who don't know, this is the Hunger Games Mockingjay emblem:
According to SparkNotes,
The mockingjay, we learn, came about as a result of a failed project by the Capitol to spy on the rebellious districts, and since then the bird has served as a reminder of this failure and the districts’ recalcitrance—Katniss describes them as “something of a slap in the face to the Capitol."
Um, I have a question. (Raises hand)
If this is:
a clear symbol of a failed rebellion, and
a slap in the face to the Capitol,
why is Gaga wearing it on her chest?
Hunger Games Capitol Versus American Capitol Protests: Coincidence?
To me, it seems like a clear reference to the recent mainstream media (which are left-leaning) rampage to swing mass opinion against perfectly reasonable American citizens protesting voter fraud at the Capitol on January 6, 2021.
I INTERVIEWED SOMEONE WHO WAS ACTUALLY THERE:
The left, along with big tech, has propagandized the entire affair and harnessed it as a false flag against any opposition to leftist ideals, spouting lies about terrorism, deleting thousands of social media accounts for simply reporting on the matter, and even de-platforming and blacklisting social media platform Parler.
Most individuals who were at the Capitol did not break the law nor do they condone the violence that occurred. This is a situation where a small group of people made the horrible decision to break and enter the Capitol and become violent (I do not condone violence nor do most of these people either!), and then the mainstream media turned on multiple millions of people, calling them domestic terrorists.
A little background: riots swept across the nation all throughout the year in 2020, but the mainstream media celebrated those protestors and excused even those who literally set fire to their cities. The mainstream media protected these actions as free speech, yet in the same breath, called protesters at the capital terrorists. The mainstream media also applauded the de-platforming of Trump, which occurred immediately following the Capitol event... the same media outlets that pretend to advocate equal rights and liberties for all. Oh, the hypocrisy.
Where does Lady Gaga fit into all this?
Oh yeah, let's back up a minute. You need to know this. Lady Gaga released a highly insulting Tweet on October 31, 2020, right before the election, wherein she spoke slowly with a goofy southern drawl, donned herself in camo, leaned up against a big truck, and poured beer on the ground. The whole point of the abysmally executed publicity stunt was to endorse Biden and encourage voting.
I was not impressed.
As a proud Texan and conservative, my tweet response went something to the tune of,
Sit down, Gaga. Here in Texas, we don’t throw a good beer on the ground after one sip, and we certainly don’t tell our friends to vote for Biden. We do however love our big trucks and camouflage... but your misappropriation and condescension is insulting and appalling.
Either way, her antics have now made it all the way to, you guessed it, the Capitol. At the inauguration, Lady Gaga sang the national anthem from the steps of the Capitol while Biden stood behind, watching on.
People immediately called out the golden bird and Hunger Games vibes on social media, to which Lady Gaga responded with a picture of the broach and a quote,
A dove carrying an olive branch. May we all make peace with each other.
Let's Get Down to Golden Tax
I'm not going to sugar coat it. I'm unhappy about a lot of what's going on here, especially since Effie Trinket is one of my favorite characters of all time, and I'll be darned before she, too, is misappropriated by the likes of Lady Gaga.
Effie Trinkets' character evolves. She starts off as a brainwashed agent of the Capitol and ends up helping the people who are controlled and oppressed by the powers in charge.
I can only hope that Lady Gaga wakes up and realizes the nefarious agenda of the left, who seek to take human rights away under the ruse of championing human rights. The level of gaslighting is quite fantastic, I must admit.
Here is My Guess
I think that Lady Gaga is well aware that she is channeling her inner Effie. But the problem is, she and the rest of those convinced that the left ideals are good for them, actually believe that they are on the side of humanity.
But they have been manipulated by the powers that seek to remove our first and second amendment rights (among others). There are people out there in this country who actually beg for their rights to be taken away.
And then there's Lady Gaga in all her glory wearing a symbol of the Mockingjay--a symbol that literally represents a failed censorship attempt by dictators--standing next to Biden, whose entire party stands for suppression of free expression.
Gaga likely believes that Trump represents the dictatorship, the oppression, the evil that must be overthrown. She likely believes that she, and Biden, and others, are the people: those who stand up to the oppressed. She thinks she is the resistance. But the irony is, most of those at the Capitol that day (excluding the small group of criminals) were actually legally and within their right resisting, and standing up for the American freedoms that are being destroyed and rights that are being taken away.
The inauguration might have been a joyous occasion, a time for song, and a time to stand and reflect upon the words of our national anthem. I get it. I am a patriot and deeply love my country. My spirit is stirred usually to the brink of tears when I stand with my people and sing the words of the song. I come from a military family. I cherish our country and the constitution upon which our country stands. And yet my heart breaks because there are many in this country who have failed to grasp and appreciate what freedom is truly about and the cost to preserve and protect that freedom.
An Olive Branch?
Coincidence or not, taking the words from Gaga's own mouth, how can we extend an olive branch and create peace when, instead, big tech companies get away with silencing the voices of the people?
How can we uphold the values of our constitution when the systems meant to uphold it fail to process the people's grievances and assertions of voter fraud with diligence and respect?
This country is at a crossroads, and it certainly won't get anywhere closer to peace if the division is continually reinforced by people who seek to twist the values of this country from that which is honorable and holy into something that is corrupt and immoral by design. The glorification of sex, identity politics, selfishness, fame, money, and greed is rising to an ever-increasing fever pitch, assisted by the likes of Gaga and frankly, everything she stands for.
Although I believe Gaga's actions indicate she is ignorant of what will bring this country truly together, I pray that, like Effie, she will learn the truth about how she is being deceived. This is not a political issue, but a much deeper spiritual one.
When we seek to find our identity in fame, gender, sex, race, money, or anything other than accepting our identity as image-bearers of God, we are lost to a world that is fallen and broken.
The Hunger Games series is set in the mythical country of Panem. Panem is Latin for "bread," a reference to Caesar, who would make sure the people had plenty of food and entertainment so that they would not dwell upon their dissatisfaction with the government.
I think about how to transcend this political fiasco and take it deeper yet, into the roots of what's really going on.
While Caesar served up "daily bread" of food and entertainment, and while many politicians serve up promises and lies, there is a daily bread that serves up eternal life. And that is the bread of Christ.
In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus said to the people,
Jesus said to them, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's.” And they marveled at him.
Jesus was explaining how leaders can attempt to usurp systems of which God has full control. This puts my heart at rest. I am fully confident in my Lord, who is sovereign above all things. There is a divine plan, and I know that all things that are in the darkness will be brought to light. There is not anything hidden that will remain hidden. For now, we must hold fast to God, and consistently traverse our journey with love for others.
Amidst all of the immorality and corruption, we must continue to illuminate that which we can illuminate, and inspire others to do the same, all while glorifying God. For the earth offers us things that perish, and God offers us eternal life.
Jesus said in the Gospel of John:
Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.”
